Event info

The Series

You do not have to do all three events. You can enter any of the events but if you enter and complete all three events as a series, you will be in line for a series place. That is each finisher is allocated points in their category – 20 for 1st, 19 for 2nd, 18 for 3rd etc. At the end of the third event the points are added up to ascertain who was 1st, 2nd & 3rd overall. These places will be recognised in each category. In the event of a tie for a place then it will be awarded on the result of Event 3. Series entrants will also receive a certificate with each event's finishing times and places. There will be spot prizes for series entrants only - (each event will also have spot prizes for all participants).
To qualify for the series you must enter all three events (same category) on or before the 21st November 2011 and then complete each event! Teams must retain the same members to be eligible for series points.

Triathlon Run: Swim 100m – Bike 10km – Run 3km
Triathlon Walk: Swim 100m – Bike 10km – Walk 1.5km
Duathlon Run: Run 1km – Bike 10km – Run 3km
Duathlon Walk: Walk 500m – Bike 10km – Walk 1.5km

Triathlon Run: Swim 150m – Bike 15km – Run 4km
Triathlon Walk: Swim 150m – Bike 15km – Walk 2km
Duathlon Run: Run 1km – Bike 15km – Run 4km
Duathlon Walk: Walk 500m – Bike 15km – Walk 2km

Triathlon Run: Swim 200m – Bike 20km – Run 5km

Registration: Is will be at Fleet Cycles – 359 Lincoln Road (just over the railway line from Moorhouse Ave)
You must register on one of these days:
Event 1
Friday 28th Sept from 2pm – 6pm or Sat 29th Sept from mid-day - 4pm

Event 2
Friday 26th Oct from 2pm – 6pm or Sat 27th Oct from mid-day - 4pm

Event 3
Friday 23rd Nov from 2pm – 6pm or Sat 24th Mar mid-day - 4pm
 

Transition: open from 6am – 7:15am

Event Brief: 7:30am

Event Start: 8:00am

Age Groups


You will be put into a 10 year age group (e.g. 20-29) based on your age at 30th Sept 2011.

Teams


Teams may consist of either two or three people. Teams must retain the same members for all three events to be eligible for series points. Team members will tag at the bike stands.

Late Entries


Entries are limited and entry into each event will be closed when the event limit is reached. If entries remain open due to entry limit not being reached, then entries must be received by the closing dates below. Should late entries be accepted after the dates below, and up to the day of each event, the entry fee will be $55 per event.

Closing Dates: If the event limit is not reached, entries must be received by post or delivery before the following dates:

Event 3: Monday 19th Nov 2012
Late entries accepted after these dates with an additional $10 late entry fee.

Postponement of the Event


If weather conditions are deemed to be too dangerous for the safety of participants the organisers reserve the right to postpone the event to the next suitable date. The postponement will be advertised on the morning of the event on NewstalkZB and other local stations. The new date will be posted on the website and advertised in the following Saturday’s Christchurch Press.

EVENT 1 - Dudley Park Rangiora 30th Sept 2012

Triathlon run and Triathlon walk
Swim 100m - 4 lengths of the 25mt Dudley Aquatic Centre pool.  There will be 5 people start per wave every 30 seconds.
 
Cycle 10km - Exit through the "Cycle Exit" gate on the Nth/West corner of transition, follow chute to exit Dudley Park through the white gates onto Park Street, turn left into High Street that then becomes Oxford Rd, continue on Oxford Rd, turn left into Plaskett Rd, left into Fernside Rd, left into Townsend, veer right into South Belt, left into Bush St, left into Johns Rd, right into White St, right onto path on the South/West corner of Dudley Park and into transition.  See map here on Mapometer

Run 3km- Exit through the "Run Exit" gate on the Nth/West corner of transition, follow chute to exit Dudley Park through the white gates onto Park Street, turn left into High St, left into West Belt, left into Johns Rd, left into White St, cross the road at the designated and marshalled spot and enter Dudley Park in the Nth/West corner, follow the marked chute to the finish line.  See map here on Mapometer

Run 1km - Start will be under the "Finish" Banner beside transition. Follow the chute to exit Dudley Park through the white gates onto Park Street, turn left into High Street, left into White Street, enter into Dudley Park in Nth/West corner, follow marked chute around the inside of the park and enter into transition through the "Run Entry" gate.  See map here on Mapometer

Walk 0.5km - Start will be at the end of the "Finish" chute.  Follow chute to edge of Dudley Park, stay within the Park parameter, follow the marked course and enter into transition through the "Run Entry" gate.  See map here on Mapometer

Event Rules

  • All participants even if you have pre-entered must register before the event and attend the event briefing.
  • Participants must remember that the events are held on public roads and caution and commonsense must be used at all times.
  • All road rules must be obeyed at all times. We do not have road closure for any part of the three events. Do not presume that you have any special privileges or right of way because you are participating in the events.
  • Crossing the white centre line of the road at any stage during the cycle will result in automatic disqualification.
  • Marshals will be available to assist you where and when possible, however they are not able to stop traffic. You must obey their instructions at all times.
  • Cycle helmets approved to Snell, ANSI, or NZ safety standards must be worn. Your helmet must be securely fastened before you remove your bike from the bike stand, and remain fastened until your bike is returned to the bike stand at the end of the cycle leg.
  • Wearing headphones or earplugs (music) during the cycle leg is not permitted.
  • Wetsuits are not permitted to be worn in the pool for the swim leg.
  • Medical personnel have the right to remove any participant from the event should they consider it necessary.
  • Refunds will not be given on withdrawing from or non-starting of an event.
  • Any decision made by the event director is final.
